April is the girl who knows to notice the little things. The girl who knows that life is precious and should be lived to the fullest. The girl who knows that milestones in life are worth celebrating.
And for April she was to be celebrating a milestone this year and knew EXACTLY how she wanted to do it. She was turning 30 and knew that a trash the dress session would be the perfect kick off to commemorate the occasion.
We headed to Terra Cotta on a Friday evening after having to re-schedule earlier in the week due to crazy thunder showers. The location was a farm owned by a friend of a friend, with April’s friend Angie accompanying us and being the perfect assistant for the session.
April wanted a few things for this session. She wanted it to be a country theme with hat and boots. She knew she wanted it to be in the country thus the home farm location. And she knew she wanted horses.
By the horses was this awesome shack filled with hay and a tractor. I was in country girl photographer heaven
April is kind and sweet who loves to laugh and have fun. I just adore her….when we get chatting you can almost guarantee the conversation is going to be fast paced with two of us chatting a mile a minute. But it’s because we get each other. We click. We value life moments, the importance of friends and family. And most importantly we “get” how hard motherhood can be but also how important it is to have girl time, to take care of ourselves as women and to still be us while wearing all the “hats” that society has us wear.
April I cannot express how awesome you are. You’re to be admired. If only all women took the time to celebrate themselves as you have done for your birthday. I love how you’re not afraid to be yourself, I love how you took the time to really think about what you wanted for this session as a reflection of who you are…..and even though the hat and boots were rockin’ you really didn’t need them to show your natural beauty.
Beauty… when you look into a woman’s eyes and see what is in her heart. ~Nate Dircks
April! Thank you for the opportunity to document this milestone for you. I loved every minute (and no you didn’t put me into early labour….lol) you’re so easy going and cheerful. Though I was technically “working” it didn’t feel like it at all. It was more like girlfriends just hanging out. It might have been your session but I loved the time we had together. Happy 30th Birthday. Here’s to but only one of many many more milestones and celebrations in your life.
With much appreciation, Christa
